The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 13

Hi people!

No time for wrinting, tomorrow!

Update: This a cool neutral color. It looks almost nude on me depending on the light, but he yellow in the color makes it intersting. It worn it once when I bought it and didn't like, but when I took it out again to force myself to wear I really liked it! I was opaque in two caots, which is great! By the way, it's a cream finish. As much as I like it, I don't have much more to say other than it's great!

Bye!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 12

Hi people!

Today is chose this color, not only because it fit my shirt, but also because I felt like I had worn cream for too many days now. In reality only two days in a row.

Here is the nails:
Pedal to the Metal - Sally Hansen complete Salon Manicure

This is a very pretty silver shade, but what's really interesting about it is that it has sort of a purple/lilac undertone to it. On  the picture on can see it better in the bottle than on the nails. It's a really fun and festive nail, great for the holiday or even during the whole winter. It has shimmer in it, but I would say that it is definately a metallic finish, hence the name of it. As most metallics, it dries rather quickly. That's a good thing because you'l have to apply at least three coats of it to be opaque. It's also a bit streaky, but nothing impossible to manage in the application. The last two points are not really positive, but I think that this colors is worth taking the time to apply, I really like it!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 10

Hello people!

I know that technically this post is late and that I haven't post yesterday, but I lways go to bed really late on Saturdays. So for me it doesn't fell like tomorrow yet.

Here is day 10's picture:
Plum's The Word - Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

This color is what the nme says it is, a plum, but it's not just a flat out plum. It as a very interesting greige (grey+beige) undertone to it, which mkes it seems a little bit dirty to me. It is a great neutral color that can match most occasionn, even tho offices! It's not too dark, not too light, no too bright, but yet different from your typical boring neutrals. The polish has more purple to it then what you see on the picture. I'll hve to figure something out to take pictures of the swatches. It's a very rich cream almost opaque in one coat. Here, I did two, first by habit, second, my lighting was bad so I could not see if what the color looked like.

See you next!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 9

Hi lovelies!

This post is coming late, but it's coming! I don't really like today's nails, but i'll still post them. I only chose this color because it matched my shirt and I felt like I wanted some shimmer.

Here they are:
Lite - Sally Hansen HD

As I was writing, I am not really a fan of this color. Well I'm not a fan of yellow nailpolishes. This one is very sheer. I did three coats on each nail and a lot could have used a fourth one. The shimmer is nice but it makes it a little bit streaky. The color itself is a bright rich yellow that I think has some gold to it. I find the results a bit tacky for me. I usually like bright colors and shimmer, but this one doesn't do it for me...

See you tomorrow!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 8

Hi guys!

Sorry for yesterday' post. The weather was like hell and it made me lazy. But hey, I still posted, that still means I haven't quit the challenge. On to other things, today I got a little fancy and did some nail art. Well... with the limited capacities I have. I'll still talk bout the centrall color, there's is not too much that it would be a mile-long post.

Here is the picture (sorry for the messy nails):
Pacific Blue - Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear

This is a great color. It's a lot to say since I am not such a fan of blues. I don't think they look good on me. Tis one is the exception and by far my favorite. It is a vivid but not too light blue. I can't explain it, but even though it's a blue I feel a certain warmth in it. It's a very pretty cream and it is very pigmented. You could get away with one coat if you apply it a little thicker, but I always ended with more than a mess, so I did two thinner ones. It is  perfect color for Spring and Summer or during other season when you want  pop of color every once in a while. You can't seen well on the picture and got a little fancy and did a little snowflakes on my ring fingers. I was inspired by yesterday snow storm I guess... I painted the snowflake with a Kiss Nail Art color, Pearl White. I know it looks silver on the pictures, but the polish was sheer and the bluie under it changed the color.

Have a wonderful day!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 7

Hey peeps!

This as already been a week since the challenge first stared and unfortunatly I already have problem with it. No time to post more than a pictures, bad pictures... Today's problem is that I can't post an actual picture od my nails. The reason is very complicated. First, this morning there was not enough light to take the picture, soo i figures out I coul;s take it earlier and come back to School to write the post (I don't have internet at my appartement). The thing is that Winter decided to launch it's first snowsttrom on us this morning. The roads haven't been shoveled and the snow keeps falling. So, whenever I get back home later, I don't think I'll try to drive again in this weather. I don't live far from school, but today's drive took me 3 times the time it usually takes me. Also, I don't want me or other people (that still haven't change their tires) to put my life in danger ;P. I have my winter tires on, but they don't seem to understand the job they have to do, anyway...

Finally, I could have taken the picture here, but I left my camera at my appartement, so.... no picture from me today. But I promess I've changed my nails! Instead of my own picture (Imight post it tomorrow) I found an other swatch from an other blog to show it to you. I think it compensate for the situation.

Here it is:
Mint Sprint - Sally Hansen (picture taken from The Daily Varnish)

Here is my own picture (which sucks):

This is a really cool polish. It a a dark mint green color with a cool undertone to it, almost turquoise like. It is super opaque cream finish, one coat is more than enough! I believe it came out last spring or summer and this is a great color for those season, but also year around because it's darker. It claims to be fast drying and it does, which is great. Even though I usually like greens I like this one as much, it a a rreally good colors. Beware as it tend to stain your nails a bit and it also tends to go everywhere when you take it off. When I do so, I always end up with green nails that I have to clean once more...

See you next time! (well, tomorrow...)

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 6

Hi lovelies!

Again today, no time for more than posting the pictures, but at least I did it!

Here it is:
Wet Cement - Sally Hansen X-treme Wear

Update:
Finally! This is a very pretty and very neutral grey. Neither cool or wam it can matche pretty much any outfit. It is not too dark and not too light, but I would not say it is in the middle, it's more on the lighter side. It is a cream and was opaque in two coats, butI felt that the formula was a bit watery. I wore this today because Iwanted to take a break from the pink/purple sterak I was starting  and to also give a break to my nail from stronger colors. I don't have much more to add. It's a beautiful classic color and I like it for those days you don't know what polish to put on.
Tschüss!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 5

Hi people!

Today, again, I relly didn't know what polish to wear. I was wearing a pink hoodie, so I thought I would make them match.

Here is today's nails:
Frosted Fuchsia - Wet 'N Wild

This is a really nice color. This is a reddish pink with very pretty blue/purple reflects. It is almost berry-like. It's a very fine shimmer. I did two coats of it here, but it was almost opaque with just one, only the tips were showing a bit. Pink is usully not my favorite nail color, but this one is an exception, for the complexity of the colors, and I love shimmers.

Sorry for the shorter posts, but I realize that it's hard to come out with a very long, detailed and good post every single day, but at least I keep up with my challenge!

Bye!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 4

Hello lovelies!

Today I was in a hurry to put some polish on so I grebbed one of my favorites which also happens to be really fast dry.

Here it is:
Raspberry Race - Sally Hansen Insta-Dry

I don't have the time to write this blog really. Have to pack for the week ahead, so i'll come back tomorrow to write more about it.

Update: This is probably in my Top 5 favorite polishes of my whole collection. This is such a pretty color! It is a bright and vivid purple with a slight pink undertone. It a cream finsh and it's super opaque in only one coat! This claims to be fast-dry and unlike some that pretend it and don'T actually do it, It does dry really fast. I must say I also used the SH Insta-dry top coat, becuse I want to protect my nails. It is the perfect summer color, but even though it's november, and freezing cold, I still wear it. I am not one to necessarily follow nail trends. If I feel like wearing this color, I will. It  brightens up my mood. It is soooooo pretty!!! (insert excited sounds here) It believe it came out this summer, but it seems to be a permanent color as I still see it around in stores

Ciao!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 3

Hi everybody!

Yesterday I had no idea of what nailpolish I'd wear. I digged in my collection and pull this one out. I'm glad I did because I hadn't worn it in a long time, and forgot how much I like it!

Here's the nails:
Orchid - Joe Fresh Style

This is a very pretty dirty purple with some undertones. Unfortunately the picture is not really good nd you can't see it very well. It is more vibrant in real life. It kind of looks like an eggplant color to me. It is not too bright or too dark which makes it suitable for many environnement in my opinion. It is a beautiful cream color opaque in to coats. By the way, my hands are not as huge as the picture mkes it look, thos bottles are quite small. I like that, because you rarely finish a bottle anyway, so you do't waste as much product. This was in their last year's fall collection.

Here's a better pictures of the swatch + bottle taken from the blog that put it's watermark on it. I don't take credit for it, she has much better swatches than me.
Joe is a Canadian Brand that just started to sell in the USA. The polishes are 4$ or 3 for 10$. They also have a line of make up and clothing.

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 2

Hi everybody!

This day 2 of the challenge and even though I just started, I feel that tonight I really don't want to change my nails. Not because I prticularly like them, I just feel too lazy. Well let's hope an episode of Ellen will help me through it.

Here is for today's nail:
The colour is Crème Brulée by Revlon. I usually like Revlon polishes and this one is no exception. They are sometime hard to apply, but they come up beautifully. This one is a very pretty beige/champagne warm nude color. It also has a bit of a gold undertone. It is a shimmer polish which is a great way to have a more fun nude nail that you can wear pretty much anywhere. I was a bit streaky when applied, but nothing too complicated to work with. The first cot is very sheer, but it becomes pretty much opaque with a second one. Here I did three to be sure (and I had time). This is a great neutral color that you can wear many days in a row unlike bold and bright colors that don't fit your everyday look. This is also the color Adele wore on her nails at the last VMA (remember the really long nude nail look?).

So this is it for today! Now i'm going to change my nails for tomorrow!

Bye!

The 100 Day Nail Polish Challenge! Day 1

Hi lovelies!

The title already says a bit about what this is going to be about! I wil be doing a nailpolish challenge for the next 100 days! The reson why I had the idea of doing this is that I have a pretty big nailpolish collection and in an effort to use it more, I will change my nailpolish every day for that period of time. I am not talking about some fancy nail art thing here. Even though I love to watch it, I don't have much talent at it. Also don't expect to se perfectly shaped nail and pushed back cuticles. I am blogging this because I thought that blogging would force me to not quit the challenge.

Why just a hundred days and not a 365 day chalennge (seems to be a more common thing)? Because Iknow for sure that past these 100 days my life will be a bit more hectic (travels, studies, works, etc.) and that it will be hard to kepp up the challenge. I mean I can't carry a dozen of bottle of nailpolish when I'll be leaving for almost two weeks in Europe! I will continue to blog and might resume an other polish challenge after that, we'll see!

Those posts will consist of the pictures od the polish on my nails, the reason why I choose it and a mini-review.

Here's the first one:
This nail polish is no. 530 Neptune Green from Make Up Factory. This is a german brand, I bought it when I when to Germany last February. I choose this one fro today because it fit, sort of, with my outfit, but also because I had not worn it in a long time. It is a green/blue/turquoise color, but a bit darker than what you see on the picture. It also has a bit of a warm grey-ish undertone to it, it is defnitly a complex color. It is not a favorite of mine. I usually like green polishes, but not so much the blue and I think the blue undertones of tit don't suit my skintone well. It is a very pretty cream finish that was opaque in 2 coats. I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Top coat on top of it. It really works to make your nail polish dries faster and also adds great shine. For the lasting part, I don't know, I usually change my nails to often to really test it.

Here is my first day of my 100 Day Nail Polish challenge! Hope you like my idea for this challenge and maybe you can do it too if you are a nail fanatic like me! Tell me, I'd like to know!

Au revoir!
-Roxane-

First Post!!!

Hi everybody who read this blog!

I'm very excited about starting this new thing called blogging! Before I tell what this blog is going to be about, I think I should tell you a bit more about who I am. I am a 20 year old language student in Cégep in the beautiful province of Québec, Canada! DISCLAIMER: English is my second language, soooo it's possible that I make mistake, even If I pay attention to what I write. My family consist of me, my two parents, my younger brother and our dog Brutus. I love them all very much (especially the dog, but shhh don't tell my parents! :P), but I can't see them as much as I'd like to. I study in an other city an hour away from my hometown. I have an appartment there, but I only go back to my parent's house every weekend.

I lile so many different things that it is hard to start by what i would like to mention first. As I said earlier, I am a language student and that influences my life a lot. I have to study a lot, but I don't mind because I love learning new languages. That one thing about me, I like learning not only the language, but also about the cultura and different types ofart these represents. Even if I haven't done it much yet, I definitly have the travel bug!

I love my friend, or as I'd like to call them, my family-from-the-heart, because, you know, friends can become like family members! I like to say that I am a very social person, but it depends what the context is. I can be shy at first, but with time I loosen up and my social skills come out.

Among other interest, i like to read, play computer games, watch TV (too much I'd say), listening to music, play with the dog, takings naps, watching Youtube, baking, and many more things that I can't think of right now. You'l probably get to know them more through this blog.

This brings me to the place where I will tell you what this blog is going to be about. This will be about a lot of things. Daily life, recipes, school, friends, rants and other various themes will the kind of subjects i will write about on this blog. I'm also starting a project that I will document on this blog, but that is for the next post!

I think that's it for the first post! I don't know what to expect for the future, we'll see along the way!

-Roxane-

P.S. I think you might have also guessed my first name is Roxane
P.P.S. How did I do for a first post?
